Trauma-Informed Yoga Training - New Bern, North Carolina

  • New Bern Art and Wellness Center 919 Broad Street New Bern, North Carolina (map)

Healing from trauma and overwhelming life experiences is often a nonlinear journey with natural ebbs and flows across the lifespan. Given the prevalence of trauma within our society, many people attending yoga classes are carrying the physical, emotional and spiritual residue of trauma within their body and may be vulnerable to being re-traumatized or triggered in this context. Understanding how a student with a history of trauma might uniquely respond to your class can enhance your ability as a teacher to create an environment where they feel greater emotional and physical safety. In that space, they will be better able to explore and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves, while fully accessing the holistic healing power of yoga.

Whether you seek to offer classes specifically for trauma survivors through private instruction or in your local community, or you simply desire additional tools to make appropriate modifications within your public classes, this training will provide you with options, information and confidence in creating a trauma-informed space. The training is accessible for new and seasoned teachers, as well as health care providers, social workers, body workers and therapists. It will be delivered in a format that is trauma-informed and attentive to the needs of participants who are also survivors of trauma.
